Super Fashion

Session 2: July 16-27, 2012

How do superheroes look so good while fighting crime? Fashion, of course! How does a costume transform a civilian and bestow a superhero identity? In this studio, you’ll design your own portfolio of sketches and manufacture prototypes of your costume. You’ll learn the fundamentals of costume design, review comic book canon as well as haute couture runways and museum exhibitions* for inspiration, and examine high-tech fabrics that are self-healing and specialty metals that are imbued with shape memory. Your designs just might inspire the next high performance sportswear!
