Inspired by many MIT robotics competitions, the studio will guide students through the process of designing, programming, and constructing autonomous robots that are equipped with camera and numerous other smaller sensors to navigate around a playing field. Students will form teams of 2-3 and build their robots using a standardized kit. Through hands-on design they will learn the complexity involved in interacting with the real-world: from seemingly simple tasks such as using bump sensors to incorporating simple control laws. At the end, all the robots will be tested on a set course where they must navigate and identify objects.
