
Evolution, DNA, and Food
In this studio, we’ll explore the relationship between biology and food. Our own sensory system influences the perception of flavor: we’ll study this first. We’ll also look at how psychology and taste are related, how evolution and DNA shape what we like, and what behavioral economics can tell us about money, food, and our experience.
Some of the ideas and concepts we’ll cover: evolutionary biology, DNA methodologies, perception and the sensory system, behavioral economics. Some of the tools you’ll become familiar with: experiment design (psychology and behavioral economics) and analysis, basic recipe design, website development.
