Exquisite Corpses

Here are the 10 fabulous exquisite corpses our Spring 2011 students created in Raghava KK’s studio, “Blueprint.” Each student worked on three separate parts of the exquisite corpse (head/torso/legs) using different techniques they learned in the studio. Raghava and the students then shuffled and arranged all the parts to create intriguing compositions. As usual, Raghava made an artist out of everyone!
Raghava’s initial goal was to allow students to develop their own technique and subsequently find their comfort zone with the medium. Although Raghava is a very patient critic in regards to student work, his critiques intensify as students become more confident through the studio. Raghava is also an amazing and inspiring artist, so students listen intently to his insight and draw their own analogies and meanings. Raghava’s own work deals with deep social issues, and he is known for experimenting with new media and sensitive social issues. His last project, which received a great deal of recognition, is an iPad application called “Pop It” that tells a story about family life through many perspectives. When you shake the iPad, the parents transform from male homosexuals to heterosexuals to lesbians to capture the diversity of families.
